Unwanted hair
Clinical name: Hirsutism · terminal hair density
Dense or coarse hair in areas where you do not want it.
The cause
Usually genetic. But hair appearing suddenly, or in a male pattern (chin, chest, abdomen) alongside cycle irregularity, may be hormonal and needs investigation before any laser session.
What we can actually change
A full course (6–10 sessions) reduces coarse dark hair by 70–90%. What remains is finer and lighter. It is not permanent removal, and the word "permanent" in Egyptian laser advertising is wrong both medically and legally. Hormonal areas need roughly annual maintenance, indefinitely.
Treatments that address it
This will not work if
- If the hair is blonde, white or red — the laser cannot see it. We will not sell you a course that will fail.
- If you are pregnant — we postpone.
- If the hair appeared suddenly with cycle irregularity — investigations first; laser does not treat the cause.
- If you pluck or wax — stop a month before session one; the laser needs the root present.
- If you are tanned or holidaying at the coast — we wait at least a fortnight.
Aftercare
- Sunscreen on exposed areas
- Shave between sessions — do not pluck
- No sauna for 48 hours
Questions we are asked
- So the hair comes back?
- Part of it, yes. After a course 10–30% remains, finer and lighter, and hormonal areas need a session a year. That is the reality; anyone saying otherwise is selling.
