Concerns

Enlarged pores

Clinical name: Dilated follicular openings

Visible pores, usually on the nose and cheeks.

The cause

High sebum output and loss of elasticity around the opening. Size is largely genetic.

What we can actually change

Pores do not close, and nobody can close them. They become less visible when sebum falls and the surrounding tissue tightens — a realistic 20–40% improvement that requires maintenance. Products promising permanent pore reduction are selling a fiction.

Treatments that address it

This will not work if

  • If you expect pores to vanish — they will not, and we would rather say so and lose the booking.
  • If your skin is very oily and you use no topical treatment — sessions will only give temporary improvement.
  • If you have active acne — we treat that first.

Aftercare

  • A salicylic cleanser twice a week
  • Sunscreen
  • Avoid pore strips — they widen the opening

Questions we are asked

Is there a cream that closes pores?
No. There are creams that reduce sebum so pores look less prominent while you use them. That is the difference between "less visible" and "closed".
