Chemical peel
Removes defined layers of skin so it regenerates with smoother texture and less pigment.
The acid and its concentration are chosen by your skin type, not by what you ask for. On Egyptian skin (mostly III–V) high concentrations cause post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation — a darker patch exactly where you wanted it lighter. So we start light and escalate. It takes longer and it does not burn.

Contraindicated if
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding (certain acids)
- Isotretinoin within 6 months
- Active eczema in the area
- History of severe post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation

Template record — not a real case
Poor outcome
Poor result — the patches returned within 4 months of the last session. The patient worked outdoors and could not realistically reapply sunscreen every 3 hours. The error was ours: we should have said this plan would not hold in her circumstances before starting.
